Today is Martin Luther King day, a day that we remember one of the most courageous men to ever live, who stood up against the dreadful way that his people were treated and caused our nation to see the injustice done toward people of color. Today we remember his great speeches, his wonderful use of imagery and metaphors to drive home powerful points. Today we remember his legacy and how what he accomplished 50 years ago still impacts us in 2017.
Dr. King was a great man and rightly deserves a day of remembrance. Remember him today by going back and listening to his speeches. Read one of his books. Hear what others whose lives have been changed by his work have to say about him.
In remembering him today, I compiled some of my favorite MLK quotes to share with you:
-“The time is always right to do what is right.”
-“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
-“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.”
-“Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.”
-“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”
-“Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.”
